Covid-19 update September 19th - Ongoing government restrictions and individual health and safety concerns are making official club meets and trips more difficult. We are reviewing the situation regularly and following guidance from the BMC on how and when we can resume normal-ish activities. In the meantime, club members continue to communicate via Slack to arrange informal climbing sessions, walks, coaching and more, as well as the usual gear chat, advice and so on. Our annual series of winter talks will go online this year, with speakers from within the club and without, and we're looking at other social activities to supplement those. Information below is provided as an indication of what we normally get up to, and what we hope to get back to soon!
As well as regular weekly meets for climbers and walkers, club members organise frequent ad hoc weekend and longer trips both home and abroad. We are active most weeks throughout the year. Most are on the calendar but events are often organised a day or so in advance with an eye on the weather and so don't make it onto the website. Ad hoc outings are organised through Slack so remember to check there for the latest info on the next meet.
For all meets, please be aware of the seriousness of the venue and the activity. We encourage our members to try new activities but this should never be at the expense of safety. Sea-cliff climbing and winter mountaineering are good examples of more committing activities where more experience may be required and members should contact the trip coordinator if they have any doubts about their ability to safely take part in the trip.
Some club meets happen every week. However, please check the Yahoo group for any changes or to check that people are going.
